Testimonials

I wasn’t just scared to negotiate, I was petrified. I was living in a scarcity mindset that had been conditioned over my thirty years on this earth. I truly believed I should be grateful to have an offer- not insult the company by asking for more. Evie helped me address the roots of these beliefs. Once I accepted what I brought to the table, I couldn’t settle for less. The first offer I received, I skittishly negotiated to the cap of the position’s salary range. Then, I asked for a sign-on bonus on top and got it. This gave me the motivation I needed to believe in myself. I turned down that first offer and kept applying. I ended getting three more offers! I negotiated a position with a 23% higher base salary than the cap of that very first offer I turned down. I negotiated my hours and schedule. And I asked to push back my start date back a month so I could celebrate myself.  I’m not scared to sell myself anymore because I know my worth! Thank you Evie!

Working with Evie was a very pleasant experience. She gave me practical advice on how to approach negotiating for a higher salary when starting a new position. Her mock salary negotiation practice really helped to drive home what qualities and assets I bring to the table and thus deserving of higher pay. After my call and various communications with Evie, I felt empowered and knowledgeable in salary negotiations. Her coaching helped me negotiate a higher salary! Evie’s services and mentorship were invaluable and I look forward to working with her again as I continue to progress in my career.

Prior to working with Evie, I was very fearful and scared to negotiate my salary as an undergraduate. I felt like I didn’t have the right to negotiate as an undergrad college student. But Evie provided the resources and encouragement that helped me negotiate my offers with different companies. I negotiated and got my $7,000 salary increase counteroffer approved!! Now I recognize my worth and feel empowered to continue to negotiate throughout my career. She helped me build my confidence in myself and in my negotiation skills. I learned not to settle for offers that were not right for me. It felt amazing knowing I had someone who supported & guided me with my salary negotiations.

FAQs

Negotiating is scary, is it really that important?

Absolutely! As a matter of fact, negotiating is critical for women and especially women of color due to it's impact to build generational wealth. A statistic from 2020 found that 60% of women DO NOT negotiate their salary. Women who DO NOT negotiate lose $500,000 over the course of their careers, where as women who negotiate consistently earn $1,000,000 over the course of their career.

What if there is no room to negotiate salary?

Never assume there isn't room for negotiations. If they can't budge on the salary, there are plenty of other valuable items to negotiate on like, sign-on bonus, stock options, more PTO, remote work, flexibility in schedule, etc.

Is negotiating only for when starting a new job?

No! You can negotiate at anytime. In fact, I encourage my clients to negotiate their salary at their current jobs as well, especially after the completion of a successful project. Considering that each year we see about a 2-3% inflation, negotiating a salary raise annually is crucial to reducing the impacts of inflation.
